OsmAnd is an open source map and navigation application that utilizes the free, worldwide and high-quality OpenStreetMap data.
OsmAnd stands for OSM Automated Navigation Directions. OsmAnd has all the necessities you’d want from a map app: public transport, cycling navigation, hiking path, you name it. Unlike many other map apps, it lets you download maps to use offline – handy when traversing foreign cities or if you find yourself Internet-less.
The offline feature allows you to generate results for the places you want to get to much faster, as compared to all the other applications that require an internet connection each time you want information about a specific area.
OsmAnd is available for Android, iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Kindle Fire and OpenStreetMap online in any browser.
Proprietary applications it could replace:
- Google Maps
- Apple Maps
- Bing Maps
