HandBrake is an open source, multi-threaded video transcoder. It is used to convert digital media from one format to another, while compressing the files in the process. Handbrake can read from DVDs, video files and other sources. It can also produce video files in a wide variety of formats.
HandBrake has lots and lots of knobs and settings so you can adjust exactly how you want your video to come out. Fortunately, it also comes with presets for most common output formats.
HandBrake runs on Linux, Mac OS X, Windows, BSD and Xfce.
