OpenToonz is a free, open-source animation program, for the production of 2D animation.
OpenToonz is based on the software “Toonz,” which was developed by Digital Video SPA in Italy, customized by Studio Ghibli, and has been used for creating animation for many years. Dwango launches this OpenToonz project in cooperation with Digital Video and Studio Ghibli.
OpenToonz is powerful 2D animation production software that anyone can now use to make commercial or non-commercial animations. And since it’s open source, you can modify the source code and develop your own tools as you see fit.
OpenToonz is available for Linux, MacOS X and Windows.
